BOBS 2009 Deadline Extended To Friday Sep 11
Racing NSW "will keep racehorse nominations for BOBS & BOBS Extra open until the end of next week (closing Friday 11 September) because of unprecedented demand". Racing NSW chief executive Peter V'landys commented: "There was a frantic rush as owners & trainers tried to beat Tuesday's original deadline. We also heard from many country people who don't have access to the internet to download forms & who are worried about how long it might take nomination forms to reach us in the mail. Most people have been trying to fax nominations to us, but that's created its own log jam. We certainly don't want any owners or trainers to miss out on Australia's biggest & most successful bonus prize-money scheme, so we decided to keep nominations open till the end of next week." By Monday night (August 31) more than 2,000 2YO horses had been nominated for BOBS & "at least a third of those were nominated for BOBS Extra as well, putting the bonus scheme well on track to break last season's record entry of 2,763 nominations". Last season BOBS paid out more than $8 million in bonus prize-money.
