Mujahid Adds Turkey Black-Type
Eliza Park shuttler Mujahid (Danzig-Elrafa Ah, by Storm Cat) added a Turkish black-type success when Godolphin's Irish-bred 6YO entire Balius (Mujahid-Akhla, by Nashwan) scored a 4.5-lengths victory in the Listed Anatolia Trophy (2000m) at Veliefendi. Balius (ridden by Frankie Dettori for trainer Saeed Bin Suroor) defeated 4YO entire Dervis Aga (Unaccounted For-Mesitas, by Surumu) & 3YO colt Berathan (Unaccounted For-Iclal, by Prince of Birds). Previously this year, Balius won Dubai's Gr2 Jebel Hatta Stakes (1777m) at Nad Al Sheba in March; overall he now has 10 wins (also including 2007's Listed Prix Tantieme over 2000m at Fontainebleau, Listed Grand Prix de La Region Alsace over 2100m at Strasbourg, Listed Grand Prix De Bordeaux over 1900m at Bordeaux & Listed Le Vase D'Argent over 2000m at Toulouse, plus 2006's Listed Grand Prix Marseille over 2000m at Marseille-Borely) & 9 placings (including 2008's Gr1 Hong Kong International Cup over 2000m at Sha Tin, Gr1 HK Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup over 2000m at Sha Tin, Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup over 2000m at Kranji & French Gr3 Prix Exbury over 2000m at Saint-Cloud) from 27 starts for US$1,694,664 earnings.
