Meanwhile in Germany overnight, Godolphin's Irish-bred 5YO entire & fellow Melbourne Cup entry Eastern Anthem (Singspiel-Kazzia, by Zinaad) finished runner-up in the €250,000 (A$425,000) Gr1 Grosser Mercedes-Benz Preis Von Baden (2400m) at Baden-Baden & racingpost.com reported Eastern Anthem (2nd top-weight on 57kg for the Gr1 Melbourne Cup) was immediately "cut from 33-1 to 20-1" in early Melbourne Cup betting by European bookmaking firm Victor Chandler. Previously this year Eastern Anthem won March's Gr1 Dubai Sheema Classic (2400m) at Nad Al Sheba, as well as finishing 3rd last month in Germany's Gr1 Rheinland-Pokal (2400m) at Cologne; & previously he placed in both 2008's UK Listed Silver Cup (14 furlongs) at York & Listed Tapster Stake (12 furlongs) at Goodwood, as well as both 2007's Listed Cocked Hat Stakes (11 furlongs) at Goodwood & Listed Newmarket Stakes (10 furlongs). Last night, 6YO entire Getaway (Monsun-Guernica, by Unfuwain) was ridden by Adrie De Vries for trainer Jens Hirschberger to score by 3-lengths from Eastern Anthem & Irish-bred fellow 6YO entire Youmzain (Sinndar-Sadima, by Sadler's Wells). At his previous start Getaway finished runner-up in August's Gr1 Rheinland-Pokal (2400m) at Cologne, after winning July's Gr1 Deutschland Preis (2400m on turf) at Dusseldorf & also finishing runner-up in June's Gr2 Hansa-Preis (2400m) at Hamburg. Last year Getaway won France's Gr2 Grand Prix De Deauville (2500m) & UK Gr2 Jockey Club Stakes (12 furlongs) at Newmarket. And during 2007 Getaway won France's Gr2 Prix Kergorlay (3000m) at Deauville & finished runner-up in France's Gr3 Prix Gladiateur (3100m) at Longchamp. In 2006 Getaway won both France's Gr3 Prix De Lutece (3000m) at Longchamp & Listed Prix Michel Houyvet (3000m) at Deauville, as well as placing in the Gr2 Prix Hubert Chaudenay (3000m) at Longchamp.
