Former West Australian Alwyn Park Stud shuttler Verglas (Highest Honor-Rahaam, by Secreto) added a UK juvenile group success when Irish-bred gelding Love Lockdown (Verglas-Out Of Thanks, by Sadler's Wells) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the £50,000 (A$98,000) Gr3 Sirenia Stakes (6 furlongs) for 2YOs at Kempton. Love Lockdown (ridden by Keegan Latham for trainer Ger Lyons) defeated the colts Iver Bridge Lad (Avonbridge-Fittonia, by Ashkalani) & Irish-bred Monsieur Chevalier (Chevalier-Blue Holly, by Blues Traveller). Love Lockdown was a €14,000 (A$24,000) yearling at the 2008 Goffs February Sale & later a €38,000 (A$65,000) yearling at the 2008 Tattersalls Ireland Sale. Previously this season he won Ireland's Listed Tochestown Stakes (6 furlongs) at Cork in June & finished 3rd in last start in the UK Listed Roses Stakes (5 furlongs) at York on August 19. Overall he now has 4 wins & 2 placings from 7 starts for £89,699 (A$176,000) earnings.
