1st Stakes-Winner For US Freshman Medallist
US Gr2-winning 8YO freshman stallion Medallist (Touch Gold-Santaria, by Star De Naskra) recorded his 1st stakes-winner when unbeaten juvenile colt Ibboyee (Medallist-Expect Excellence, by Pentelicus) blitzed his rivals by 6.25-lengths in the US$150,000 Listed Aspirant Stakes (6 furlongs) for 2YOs at Finger Lakes in New York. Ibboyee (ridden by Cornelio Velasquez for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated fellow colt Dahlgren Chapel (Chapel Royal-Devoted, by El Gran Senor) & the gelding Persian Ruler (Artax-Slacks, by High Brite). Ibboyee (initially a US$35,000 weanling at the 2007 Keeneland November Sale & later a US$120,000 yearling at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton August Sale) now has 2 wins from 2 starts for US$119,580 earnings. His sire Medallist (who retired with 5 wins from 12 starts, including victories in the Gr2 Dwyer Stakes, Gr3 Withers Stakes & Gr3 Deputy Minister Handicap) stands at Northview Stallion Station in Pennsylvania for US$5,000 & has 50 2YOs in his 1st crop.
