Oliver-Brown-McGauran Meet ARB Over Whip Rule
Wednesday, 9th September 2009
Leading jockeys Damien Oliver & Corey Brown, accompanied by former Federal Agriculture Minister & now Thoroughbred Breeders Australia chief executive Peter McGauran, will meet the Australian Racing Board tomorrow to present the jockeys' submission for a change to the controversial new whip rules "on behalf of the industry's major stake-holders", reported The Daily Telegraph. They will ask the ARB to "vary the rule so that in the final 100m the use of the whip is at the discretion of the jockey".
