Wellington Cup Winner Megapins Retired To Stud
Tuesday, 22nd September 2009
In New Zealand, last season's Gr2 Wellington Cup (2400m) winner & South Island Horse-Of-The-Year Megapins (Pins-Instant Divorce, by Fiesta Star) has been retired to stud, after the 6YO mare "suffered a fetlock injury this week while building up for a fresh campaign from the stable of trainers John & Karen Parsons," reported NZ Thoroughbred Marketing. Megapins (a NZ$15,000 purchase at the 2005 NZ Bloodstock Ready-To-Tun Sale) won 7 races from 2000-2400m (plus 3rd March's Gr3 Thompson Handicap over 1600m) & NZ$352,725 prize-money.
