Zabeel Begins 18th Season With Early Success
Meanwhile Cambridge Stud's 23-year-old multiple champion sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram-Lady Giselle, by Nureyev) "is proving he's still very much an active stallion force" by beginning his 18th year of stud duties "with 3 of his early coverings returning positive pregnancy tests" reported NZ Thoroughbred Marketing. Cambridge principal Sir Patrick Hogan enthused: "It's a great result." Zabeel (who boasts 121 individual stakes-winners, including 38 Gr1-winners) has a limited book of 80 mares for 2009 at NZ$90,000+GST. His progeny have won A$95 million in Australia alone.
