Scenic Blast Arrives Safely In Japan For Gr1 Contest
Newly-crowned Australian Horse-Of-The-Year & current 2009 Global Sprint Challenge leader Scenic Blast (winner of June's UK Gr1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot) arrived safely at Japan's Narita Airport on Wednesday after a 15-hour trip from London & "was transported to the JRA Horseracing School Quarantine Center to prepare for the Gr1 Sprinters Stakes" (6th leg of the series over 1200m at Nakayama Racecourse on October 4) reported japanracing.jp. Scenic Blast (who will win a US $1 million bonus if successful in Japan) subsequently "had light exercise on the 1400m track at the Horseracing School yesterday morning" (Thursday) & Australian trainer Dan Morton commented: "His condition is very good. He has adjusted well to the change in environment. He only went through the motions today, but depending on his condition, we will gradually pick up the pace of his training. We plan to run a strong canter on Sunday."
