Cape Cross Adds UK Black-Type
Former Darley shuttler Cape Cross (Green Desert-Park Appeal, by Ahonoora) added a UK black-type success when Irish-bred 3YO filly Spirit Of Dubai (Cape Cross-Questina, by Rainbow Quest) came from the tail of the field to score by a short-head over her older rivals in the £45,000 (A$87,000) Listed Princess Royal Stakes (12 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Ascot. Spirit Of Dubai (ridden by William Buick for trainer David Simcock) defeated fellow Irish-bred 3YO filly Poly's Mark (Mark Of Esteem-Kotdiji, by Mtoto) & US-bred 4YO mare Mischief Making (Lemon Drop Kid-Fraulein, by Acatenango). Spirit Of Dubai was an 85,000 guineas (A$174,000) yearling at the 2007 UK Tattersalls October Sale. Overall she now has 2 wins & a runner-up from 8 starts for £32,744 (A$63,000) earnings.
