IFHA 5: Plans For More International Simulcasting
Wednesday, 7th October 2009
IFHA executive director Maurits Bruggink told the conference that, despite the world economic downturn, total global betting on racing in 2008 remained steady at €85.2 billion (A$144.8bn) & will rise to €100 billion (A$170bn) annually "in the near future". Overall breeding totals also remained fairly stable, with 121,402 foals produced globally in 2007 & 119,639 in 2008. Bruggink also predicted significant increases in both international betting pool co-mingling & international simulcasting among racing organisations.
