Ask Wins French Gr1 Prix Royal-Oak

In France overnight, UK-bred 6YO entire Ask (Sadler's Wells-Request, by Rainbow Quest) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the €250,000 (A$400,000) Gr1 Prix Royal-Oak (3100m) at Longchamp in Paris. Ask (ridden by Ryan Moore for trainer Sir Michael Stoute) defeated Godolphin's German-bred fellow 6YO entire Schiaparelli (Monsun-Sacarina, by Old Vic) & 3YO colt Manighar (Linamix-Mintly Fresh, by Rubiano). Previously this year Ask also won June's UK Gr1 Coronation Cup (12 furlongs) at Epsom Downs & May's UK Gr2 Yorkshire Cup (14 furlongs) at York, plus placing in July's UK Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (12 furlongs) at Ascot. In 2008 he won the UK Gr3 Gordon Richards Stakes (10 furlongs) at Sandown Park & in 2007 he won both the UK Gr3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes (12 furlongs) at Ascot & Gr3 Ormonde Stakes (13.5 furlongs) at Chester, as well as placing in the Gr1 Canadian International Stakes (12 furlongs) at Woodbine.
