Rangirangdoo Wins Expressway Stakes
NZ Rich Hill Stud stallion Pentire (Be My Guest-Gull Nook, by Mill Reef) added a group success when 5YO gelding Rangirangdoo (Pentire-She Wishes, by Kenfair) gained the judge’s verdict in a 3-way photo-finish to the $200,000 weight-for-age Gr2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney. Rangirangdoo (ridden by Corey Brown for trainer Chris Waller) scored by a long-head from 6YO gelding Dao Dao (Shinko Forest-Casual Way, by Casual Lies) with a further half-neck to favoured fellow 5YO gelding McClintock (King Cugat-She's Sweet, by Danzero). Rangirangdoo (a NZ$170,000 yearling at the 2006 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) now has 8 wins (also including 2009’s Gr2 Patinack Farm Crystal Mile over 1600m at Moonee Valley & Gr3 Tramway Handicap over 1300m at Randwick) & 6 placings (including 2009’s Gr1 Arrrowfield Stud Epsom Handicap over 1600m at Randwick & Gr2 Shannon Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill) from 15 starts for $631,880 earnings.
