Crystal Lily Wins Sweet Embrace Stakes
Widden Stud's Gr1 Golden Slipper-winning freshman stallion Stratum (Redoute's Choice-Bourgeois, by Luskin Star) added a juvenile group success when favoured daughter Crystal Lily (Stratum-Crystal Snip, by Snippets) scored a 3-lengths victory in the $125,000 Gr3 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) for 2YO fillies at Randwick. Crystal Lily (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainers Matt Ellerton & Simon Zahra) defeated Ambers Waltz (Danehill Dancer-Ambers Halo, by Don't Say Halo) & Zutara (Encosta De Lago-Matras, by Zabeel). Crystal Lily now has 3 wins (also including last start's Listed Chairman's Stakes over 1100m at Caulfield on February 27 & January's Listed Arrowfield Stud Blue Diamond Preview over 1000m at Caulfield) & 2 placings (including 2009's Listed AGL Renewable Energy Stakes over 1000m at Flemington) from 6 starts for $260,000 earnings.
