Waterhouse Slams "Vastly Over-Watered" Rosehill Track
Leading Sydney trainer Gai Waterhouse declared bluntly on her website gaiwaterhouse.com.au: "I feel obliged to record my disappointment with Saturday's Rosehill track. Put simply, it was vastly over watered. Track curator Lindsay Murphy (who I think is the best in Australia), I suspect has succumbed to the "watering lobby". Some people foolishly object to the best horses winning, often by leading "on the shortest way home" - the fence. Sounds normal & good to me. Both leading jockeys Nash Rawiller & Craig Williams said the track was most unsatisfactory with significant inconsistent soft patches. When a horse hits a soft patch, he won't stretch out. The jockeys of The Jackal, Phenomenal Lass & Star Witness told the stewards the artificially-affected goings compromised their ride's chances. Bad for racing. The punters, our only customer, hate it."
