Leading Kiwi Hoop Relocating To Brisbane
New Zealand jockey Michael Walker, who won the New Zealand Jockeys' premiership twice while still an apprentice, has made the decision to relocate to Brisbane where he is currently riding during Queensland's Winter Carnival. According to Sydney's The Daily Telegraph, Walker "has had discussions with leading trainers [in Brisbane] about a permanent move". Walker was away from the track for many months after suffering dramatic head injuries in a pig hunting accident, and returned to the saddle in 2008. He will be managed by Damien Oliver's manager Mark Van Triet.
