Bank Sues Stonewall Stallions For US$14.8m Loan Default
Fifth Third Bank (already suing prominent US owner Zayat Stables for more than US$34 million) "has sued another major US equine entity for failure to repay loans, this time taking action against Stonewall Stallions, farm owner Audrey Haisfield & other entities," reported bloodhorse.com. The suit contends the Kentucky-based breeding operation has defaulted on US$14.8 million in loans & the bank "is seeking to sell Stonewall's bloodstock, including Stonewall or Haisfield's interests in 6 stallions standing at the farm". Stonewall attorney John Hamilton told US Daily Racing Form he was "surprised by the suit because his client was working with the bank & had recently negotiated to turn over the farm's bloodstock to Fifth Third". Stonewall stands 6 stallions at its Kentucky farm & has 5 stallions at stud at its Florida location.
