Aust-Bred Luen Yat Forever Wins Gr2 Macau Cup
In Macau, former Widden Stud & now Hollylodge Thoroughbreds stallion Honours List (Danehill-Gold Script, by Script Ohio) added a group success when boom Australian-bred 5YO gelding Luen Yat Forever (Honours List-Loisset, by Langfuhr) led an Australian-bred trifecta in winning the Gr2 Macau Cup (1500m) at Taipa. Luen Yat Forever (ridden by Manoel Nunes for trainer Steven Choi) defeated Australian-bred 8YO gelding Jazza Bell (Zabeel-Alharir, by Jeune) & fellow Australian-bred 5YO gelding Dr Zhivago (Fasliyev-Amatista, by Scenic). Luen Yat Forever (a $32,000 weanling consigned by Glenlogan Park at the 2006 Magic Millions National Sale) now has 12 wins (also including July's Gr2 Star Of The Sand Stakes over 1500m, May's Gr1 Macau Gold Cup over 1800m, April's Gr1 Macau Derby over 1800m, March's Gr1 Macau Guineas over 1500m & January's Gr3 Winter Trophy over 1800m, plus 2009's Gr3 Lisboa Challenge) & 9 placings (including 2009's Gr3 Lisboa Prelude over 1200m) from 23 starts. Nominated last week for October's Gr1 MVRC Cox Plate (2020m), Luen Yat Forever will enter quarantine in mid-August, before heading to Victoria to compete at the Melbourne Spring Carnival (beginning with the Gr1 Sir Rupert Clark Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield on September 18).
