5-Time Gr1-Placed Spacious Retired To UK Stud
UK Cheveley Park's 5-time Gr1-placed 5YO mare Spacious (Nayef-Palatial, by Green Desert) has been retired to the breeding barn (after finishing 6th in last weekend's UK Gr1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket). Cheveley managing director Chris Richardson told sportinglife.com: "It was the end of a long season for her. Her coat had slightly gone & we knew the ground wasn't ideal. At the end of the day, she ran her heart out to finish a close 2nd in the Gr1 Matron Stakes in Ireland the time before (September 4) & we now look forward to retiring her to the paddocks. She was placed in 5 Gr1s. Unfortunately it didn't quite happen for her, but she's a very exciting prospect for the future." Among her stakes successes, Spacious won the 2009 UK Gr2 Windsor Forest Stakes (8 furlongs) at Royal Ascot & placed in each of the 2010 Irish Gr1 Matron Stakes (8 furlongs) at Leopardstown, 2010 UK Gr1 Falmouth Stakes (8 furlongs) at Newmarket, 2010 UK Gr2 Windsor Forest Stakes (8 furlongs) at Royal Ascot, 2010 Gr3 Dahlia Stakes (9 furlongs0 at Newmarket, 2009 Gr1 Sun Chariot Stakes (8 furlongs) at Newmarket, 2009 UK Gr1 Falmouth Stakes (8 furlongs) at Newmarket, 2009 UK Gr3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes (8.5 furlongs) at Epsom, 2008 UK Gr1 1000 Guineas at Newmarket & 2007 UK Gr2 May Hill Stakes (8 furlongs) at Doncaster.
