In South America, Stefan Friborg's colt Energia Cosmica (Thignon Lafra-Chapelais, by Hostage) scored a half-length victory in Brazil's Gr1 Grande Premio Linneo de Paula Machado-Grande Criterium (2000m on turf) for 3YOs at Hipodromo La Gavea in Rio de Janeiro. Energia Cosmica (ridden by Ilson Correa for trainer Genavildo Duarte) defeated favoured filly Olympic Message (Wild Event-Mere Catherine, by Jules) & another filly Thunderdome Luiz (Wild Event-Feiticeira Regina, by Roi Normand).
