Invincible Spirit Adds Irish Black-Type
In Ireland, former European Champion 1st Season Sire & Chatswood Stud shuttler Invincible Spirit (Green Desert-Rafha, by Kris) added a black-type success when 5YO mare Invincible Ash (Invincible Spirit-Fully Fashioned, by Brief Truce) scored a 0.75-length victory in the €42,500 Listed Mercury Stakes (5 furlongs on all-weather) at Dundalk, to improve on his placing in this same race 2 years ago. Invincible Ash (ridden by Gary Garroll for trainer Mick Halford) defeated 5YO gelding Hitchens (Acclamation-Royal Fizz, by Royal Academy) & UK-bred 7YO gelding Luisant (Pivotal-La Legere, by Lit De Justice). Invincible Ash was a €45,000 (A$63,000) at the 2006 Tattersalls Ireland Sale. Overall she now has 7 wins (also including August's Abergwaun Stakes over 5 furlongs at Tipperary) & 8 placings (including 2009's Listed Naas Sprint Stakes over 5 furlongs & 2008's Listed Mercury Stakes over 5 furlongs at Dundalk) from 30 starts for €226,607 (A$320,000) earnings.
