Piccolo Adds German Black-Type
Also in Germany, former Eureka Stud shuttler Piccolo (Warning-Woodwind, by Whistling Wind) added a black-type success when UK-bred 6YO gelding Lipocco (Piccolo-Magical Dancer, by Magical Wonder) scored a 2.5-lengths victory in the €20,000 (A$28,000) Listed Belmondo-Pokal (1000m) at Baden-Baden. Lipocco (ridden by Stephane Pasquier for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre) defeated fellow 6YO gelding Calrissian (Efisio-Centaine, by Royal Academy) & 3YO colt Murcielago (Areion-My Angel, by Luigi). Lipocco was originally a 14,000 guineas (A$24,000) weanling at the 2004 UK Tattersalls December Sale, then a 13,000 guineas (A$22,000) yearling at the 2005 Doncaster September Sale & finally an 82,000 guineas (A$139,000) horse-in-training at the 2008 UK Tattersalls Sale. Overall he now has 4 wins & 12 placings (including 2008's UK Listed Leisure Stakes over 6 furlongs at Windsor) from 27 starts for €142,560 (A$201,000) earnings.
