Monday, 11th April 2011

NZ Waikato Stud's Australian-bred stallion Pins (Snippets-No Finer, by Karou Star) added a black-type (& 38th individual stakes-winner) success when gelded son Almodovar (Pins-My Midnight Madam, by Kaapstad) notched his 3rd successive victory when he gained the judge's decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Listed Galilee Series Final (2406m) for 3YOs at Caulfield in Melbourne. Equal-favourite Almodovar (ridden by Linda Meech for trainer Peter Moody) scored by a long-neck from equal-favourite fellow gelding Right Of Refusal (Refuse To Bend-Melinda, by Quest For Fame) with a further neck to top-weighted gelding Cuban Sunday (Benicio-Magical Sunday, by Sunday Silence). Almodovar took his record to 3 wins & a placing from 6 starts for $110,115 earnings. (Click on the link for full race details from Group Race Results at AAP Racing.)
