Uxorious Wins Wangoom Handicap
Multiple Gr1-winning shuttler & former star Australian sprinter Choisir (Danehill Dancer-Great Selection, by Lunchtime) added a black-type success (& 29th individual stakes-winner world-wide) when favoured 5YO gelding Uxorious (Choisir-Shiny Mai, by Keltrice) returned from a 6-months spell to score a 0.75-length victory in yesterday's $125,000 Listed Wangoom Handicap (1200m) at Warrnambool in Victoria. Lightly-raced Uxorious (ridden by Dean Yendall for trainer Matthew Williams) defeated 8YO gelding Stanzout (Gallo Di Ferro-Stanza Grey, by Mentat Duke) who won this race last year & 6YO gelding Philda (Secret Savings-Suraya, by Brief Truce). Uxorious (passed-in for $34,000 as a weanling at the 2006 Inglis Australian Select Sale) took his record to 5 wins & 2 placings from 10 starts for $168,988 earnings.
