French 2YOs: $278k Exceed And Excel Colt
Prime Equestrian (a group of British-born & Dubai-based investors) paid €200,000 (A$278,000) for a colt by former Australian champion 1st-season sire Exceed And Excel (the 2nd foal out of Indian Ridge mare Nikolenka) consigned from Irish pin-hooker Con Marnane's Bansha House Stables. Marnane bought the colt (from the family of stakes-winner Tropical Paradise) for just €30,000 (A$42,000) at last August's Arqana Yearling Sale & told racingpost.com: "It is such a strong sale & this is an absolutely fantastic result. He really developed into a lovely looking animal & moved like a ballerina up the track."
