"Reserved Decision" In Scriven Stolen Whip Appeal
Tuesday, 24th May 2011
The Racing Queensland appeals board yesterday "reserved its decision" in the appeal by jockey Shane Scriven against a 5-months ban for stealing rival jockey Ben Looker's whip during the closing stages of a race at Ipswich in April. Scriven appealed against the severity of the sentence, arguing it could end his riding career because of his on-going weight issues. The appeals board said a decision was "unlikely to be reached this week".
