Mayfield-Smith Announces 2nd Training Comeback

Former 3-time champion Sydney trainer of the 1980s Brian Mayfield-Smith confirmed to Sky Sports Radio that he is coming out of retirement for a 2nd time & will prepare "a small team of 2 or 3 horses at a time" from his property in the Murrindindi Valley at Yea in Victoria, "keeping them in an open environment where they can be more like horses. I've trained for 36 years professionally & I've never done it this way; it's a whole new thought process, so that's really interesting & stimulating for me. On the property there's a lot of hilly & sloped ground of different variations & that will contribute to the training process of the horses by riding them in the big saddle for about an hour - riding them uphills, trotting & cantering & doing faster work on sloping ground for short distances."
