Bragato Wins NZ Challenge Stakes
In New Zealand, Grangewilliam Stud sire Brilliance (Thunder Gulch-La Gueriere, by Lord At War) added a black-type success when 6YO gelding Bragato (Brilliance-Yarra Rose, by One Pound Sterling) scored a 2.5-lengths victory in the NZ$45,000 weight-for-age Listed AG Challenge Stakes (1600m) at Wanganui. Bragato (ridden by Michael Coleman for trainer Richard Joostens) defeated 5YO mare Yeshi Shinko (Shinko King-Arwen, by His Royal Highness) & favoured 5YO gelding Spare A Fortune (Spartacus-Seek A Fortune, by Kaapstad). Bragato (passed-in for NZ$3,000 when consigned by Grangewilliam Stud at the 2006 NZ Bloodstock Festival Yearling Sale at Karaka) now has 6 wins & 8 placings from 39 starts for NZ$88,210 earnings.
