Acclamation Wins US Gr1 Whittingham Handicap

Favoured 5YO entire Acclamation (Unusual Heat-Winning In Style, by Silveyville) scored a front-running 3.5-lengths victory in the US$250,000 Gr1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap (10 furlongs on turf) at Hollywood Park in California to win this race for the 2nd successive year. Acclamation (ridden by Joseph Talamo for trainer Donald Warren) defeated 4YO gelding Celtic New Year (North Light-Reggae Queen, by Dynaformer) & 5YO gelding Bourbon Bay (Sligo Bay-Coral Necklace, by Conquistador Cielo). Acclamation took his record to 6 wins (also including May’s Gr2 Jim Murray Memorial Handicap over 12 furlongs at Hollywood Park, plus 2010’s Gr1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap over 10 furlongs at Hollywood Park & Gr2 Jim Murray Memorial Handicap over 12 furlongs at Hollywood Park) & 8 placings (including 2010’s Gr2 Strub Stakes over 9 furlongs at Santa Anita, plus 2009's Gr1 Hollywood Derby over 10 furlongs at Hollywood Park, Gr2 San Gabriel Handicap over 9 furlongs at Santa Anita, Gr2 Del Mar Derby over 9 furlongs & Listed Ralph Hinds Handicap over 9 furlongs at Fairplex Park) from 25 starts for US$758,048 earnings.
