1st Winner For Freshman Sire Primus

Chatswood Stud’s Gr3-winning & triple Gr1-placed 8YO freshman stallion Primus (Flying Spur-Copa de Oro, by Hector Protector) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO gelding Apollo Creed (Primus-She's A Knockout, by Kingston Rule) scored by 4.25-lengths over 1412m at Seymour in Victoria yesterday for trainer John McArdle. Apollo Creed was a $20,000 yearling consigned by Toolooganvale Farm at the 2010 Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney. His sire Primus (who stands at Chatswood for $5,500) was a NZ$120,000 yearling at the 2004 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka. On the track, Primus recorded 4 wins (including the Gr3 Tramway Quality over 1400m, Listed Ming Dynasty over 1400m & Listed Show County over 1200m) & 6 placings (including the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas over 1600m, Gr1 Randwick Guineas over 1600m & Gr1 Rosehill Guineas over 2000m, plus the Gr2 Stan Fox Stakes over 1400m & Gr2 Expressway Stakes over 1200m, as well as 4th in the Gr1 AJC Derby over 2400m) from 17 starts for $524,780 earnings.
