Exceed And Excel Adds UK Black-Type
Former Australian champion 1st-season sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) added a UK black-type success when Irish-bred daughter Margot Did (Exceed And Excel-Special Dancer, by Shareef Dancer) scored by a neck in the £40,000 (A$61,000) Listed Land O’Burns Fillies’ Stakes (5 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Ayr in Scotland. Margot Did (ridden by Hayley Turner for trainer Michael Bell) defeated Irish-bred 4YO mare Celerina (Choisir-Chantarella, by Royal Academy) & fellow 3YO filly Ladies Are Forever (Monsieur Bond-Forever Bond, by Danetime). Margot Did was a €16,000 (A$22,000) yearling at Ireland’s 2009 Goffs Sale & subsequently a 10,000 guineas (A$16,000) 2YO at the 2010 UK Tattersalls Guineas Sale. Overall she now has 4 wins (also including last start’s Listed Scurry Stakes over 5 furlongs at Sandown Park on June 11) & 5 placings (including April’s Listed Pavilion Stakes over 6 furlongs at Ascot, plus 2010’s Gr2 Lowther Stakes over 6 furlongs at York, Gr3 Albany Stakes over 6 furlongs at Royal Ascot, Gr3 Princess Margaret Stakes over 6 furlongs at Ascot & Listed Dick Poole Fillies Stakes over 6 furlongs at Salisbury) from 11 starts for £104,438 (A$160,000) earnings.
