Galileo Adds UK Gr2

Monday, 20th June 2011

Former shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a UK group success when Irish-bred colt Nathaniel (Galileo-Magnificient Style, by Silver Hawk) blitzed his rivals by 5-lengths in the £140,000 (A$214,000) Gr2 King Edward VII Stakes (12 furlongs) for 3YOs at Royal Ascot. Nathaniel (ridden by William Buick for trainer John Gosden) defeated fellow Irish-bred colts Fiorente (Monsun-Desert Bloom, by Pilsudski) & Alexander Pope (Danehill Dancer-Starship, by Galileo). Nathaniel took his record to 2 wins & 3 runners-up (including May’s Gr3 Chester Vase over 12.5 furlongs at Chester) from 5 starts for £103,796 (A$159,000) earnings.
