NZ Star Booming Aimed At Melbourne Cup
Kiwi trainer Jeff Lynds confirmed his other star galloper, dual Gr1-winning 6YO gelding Booming (Don Eduardo-Beautiful Sea, by Grosvenor) has “been in work for & weeks & was coming along well ahead of his Spring campaign, which could include a tilt at the A$6 million Gr1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 1” reported The Waikato Times. Lynds commented: “We're undecided where we kick off yet. He may go straight to Australia or he might run here first. He's qualified for the Melbourne Cup.” Booming currently boasts 8 wins (including January’s Gr1 Thorndon Mile over 1600m at Trentham, plus 2010’s Gr1 Zabeel Classic over 2000m at Ellerslie) & 8 placings (including February’s Gr1 Darci Brahma International Stakes over 2000m at Te Rapa, plus 2010's Gr1 Auckland Cup over 3200m at Ellerslie & Australian Listed Japan Racing Association Plate over 2000m at Randwick, as well as 2009's Listed NZ St Leger over 2500m at Trentham) from 24 starts.
