McGauran Resigns As TBA & Aushorse CEO
The Boards of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia & Aushorse Marketing announced they have “accepted with regret the resignation of joint chief executive Peter McGauran, who is leaving to pursue a number of private business ventures”. McGauran joined the 2 breeders’ organizations in May 2008 after a 25-year career in Federal Parliament. TBA president Trevor Lobb commented: “Peter came at a time of renewal & expansion of the industry’s representative bodies & he has tackled the task with enthusiasm & skill. His major achievements include taking TBA membership from zero to 3,800 & developing a new & vastly strengthened Thoroughbred Industry Code Of Conduct for auction sales. He published a landmark Breeders Racehorse Ownership survey, represented the industry on numerous government & racing consultative bodies & spoke for breeders on such public issues as animal welfare, artificial insemination & coal mining encroaching on farming land.”
