Hennessy Adds Canada Black-Type

Tuesday, 28th June 2011

In Canada, deceased Gr1-winning former shuttler Hennessy (Storm Cat-Island Kitty, by Hawaii) added black-type success when daughter Inglorious (Hennessy-Noble Strike, by Smart Strike) scored a 2.5-lengths victory against the males in the C$1 million Listed Queen’s Plate (10 furlongs on all-weather) for 3yos at Woodbine in Toronto. Inglorious (ridden by Luis Contreras for trainer Josie Carroll) defeated the geldings Hippolytus (Philanthropist-Danzatara, by Ascot Knight) & Pender Harbour (Philanthropist-Uproar, by Hail The Ruckus). Inglorious (a C$83,500 yearling at the 2009 Ontario September Sale) took her record to 5 wins (also including last start’s Listed Woodbine Oaks over 9 furlongs on June 5 & May’s Listed La Lorgnette Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Woodbine, plus both 2010's Listed Ontario Lassie Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Woodbine & Listed Fanfreluche Stakes over 6 furlongs at Woodbine) & a runner-up (in February's US Gr3 Rachel Alexandra Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Fair Grounds) from 7 starts for C$1,264,943 earnings.
