US Sire Two Punch Euthanased Aged 28
In the US, veteran stallion Two Punch (Mr Prospector-Heavenly Cause, by Grey Dawn II) was euthanased at Northview Stallion Station in Maryland due to the infirmities of old age. Northview co-owner Richard Golden commented: “Two Punch had been an integral part of Northview Stallion Station since we opened our doors in 1989. He sired an Eclipse Award winner (champion sprinter & prominent Kentucky stallion Smoke Glacken), has become an excellent broodmare sire & has had an auction record that was the best in the region. And he remained popular to the end.” Despite never siring more than 73 foals in a single crop, Two Punch (Maryland Stallion-Of-The-Year in 1994, 1995 & 1997) boasts 54 stakes-winners from 22 crops of racing age, topped by Smoke Glacken (himself the sire of 2 Gr1-winners) & Gr1-winner Taking Risks; his progeny have earned over US49 million.
