2nd Stakes-Winner For UK Freshman Dutch Art

Monday, 22nd August 2011

UK Cheveley Park Stud's dual Gr1-winning & triple Gr1-placed 7YO freshman stallion Dutch Art (Medicean-Halland Park Lass, by Spectrum) recorded his 2nd 1st-crop stakes-winner when juvenile colt Caspar Netscher (Dutch Art-Bella Cantata, by Singspiel) scored a 2.25-lengths victory in the £140,000 (A$210,000) Gr2 Gimcrack Stakes (6 furlongs) for 2YO colts & geldings at York. Caspar Netscher (ridden by Robert Winston for trainer Alan McCabe) defeated Irish-bred colt Lilbourne Lad (Acclamation-Sogno Verde, by Green Desert) & fellow colt Burwaaz (Exceed And Excel-Nidhaal, by Observatory). Caspar Netscher was originally a 25,000 guineas (A$39,000) yearling at the 2010 UK Tattersalls October Sale & subsequently a 65,000 guineas (A$101,000) 2YO at this season’s Tattersalls April Sale. Overall he now has 2 wins & 4 placings (including both July’s Gr2 Richmond Stakes over 6 furlongs at Goodwood & Listed Rose Bowl Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newbury, plus June’s Listed Windsor Castle Stakes over 5 furlongs at Royal Ascot) from 7 starts for £104,974 (A$) earnings.
