Aust-Bred Rocket Man 4th In Japan Gr1
In Japan, multiple Gr1-winning Australian-bred 6YO gelding Rocket Man (Viscount-Macrosa, by McGinty) started favourite but finished 4th in the field of 15 runners, as exciting 4YO mare Curren Chan (Kurofune-Spring Ticket, by Tony Bin) notched her 5th successive win with a 1.75-lengths victory in the ¥197.6m (A$2.596m) Gr1 Sprinters Stakes (1200m) at Nakayama Racecourse near Tokyo (the race was also the 7th leg of the Global Sprint Challenge). Curren Chan (ridden by Kenichi Ikezoe for trainer Takayuki Yasuda) defeated front-running 4YO entire Pas De Trois (Swept Overboard-Grand Pas De Deux, by Fuji Kiseki) & fellow 4YO mare A Shin Virgo (Falbrav-Kansas Girl, by Thunder Gulch). Curren Chan now boasts 8 wins (also including August’s Gr3 Keeneland Cup over 1200m at Sapporo, July’s Gr3 Hakodate Sprint Stakes over 1200m at Hakodate & April’s Gr2 Sankeisports Hai Hanshin Himba Stakes over 1400m at Hanshin) & 3 placings from 12 starts for ¥297.195 million (A$3.905m) earnings.
