Moneghetti Wins Northam Cup
WA Durham Lodge Thoroughbred Stud's Gr1 Victoria Derby winner Blackfriars (Danehill-Kensington Gardens, by Grosvenor) added a black-type success (& 17th individual stakes-winner) when 5YO gelding Moneghetti (Blackfriars-Just A Runner, by Kaapstad) scored a half-length victory in yesterday’s $100,000 Listed Northam Cup (1600m) in Western Australia. Moneghetti (ridden by William Pike for trainer Grant Williams) defeated fellow 5YO gelding Ringmeister (Arena-Alsatia, by Marauding) & favoured 4YO gelding Rafferty (More Than Ready-Miss Margaret, by Marscay). Moneghetti (an $80,000 yearling consigned by Durham Lodge at the 2008 Magic Millions Perth Sale) took his record to 7 wins & 4 runners-up from 20 starts for $231,300 earnings.
