Lunch Today To Decide Black Caviar 2012 Campaign
Unbeaten sprinter Black Caviar's "limitations, rather than her strengths, will be the key factor when her world tour is mapped out over lunch today" reported The Herald-Sun. Everyone "from foreman to masseur will make a submission for her owners & trainer Peter Moody to digest" with "an announcement detailing the campaign to be made in the near future". Stable manager Jeff O'Connor confirmed: "All the key opinions will come into it. What she can physically deal with over the next few months, comparisons to how she has been physically leading into previous campaigns, where she is at. Everything will be ticked off, just like with a football team." Dubai, Sydney, Royal Ascot, Japan & Hong Kong "are all possible targets beyond Black Caviar's remaining Melbourne campaign of the Orr & Futurity Stakes" (both run over 1400m at Caulfield this month). Senior part-owner Gary Wilkie said Moody "would set the parameters - of what he feels Black Caviar can physically endure - and the owners would provide a wish list within them". Wilkie noted: "Peter's the only one among us who has campaigned horses overseas, so it's his call as to what Black Caviar can & can't handle. The most important thing, for all of us, is to not risk her wellbeing. Raising the bar is not the catalyst for any decision we make. For us it's all about having fun, just as it was the first day we bought her. We're all very keen for Royal Ascot. All our families are booked to go. We can't imagine anything being more fun than having the odds-on favourite running at Royal Ascot (in the Golden Jubilee Stakes)."
