NZB Select Yearlings Day-2: NZ$200k No Excuse Needed Filly
In the New Zealand auction ring, Palmerston North trainer Lisa Latta paid equal-top price of NZ$200,000 for a filly by Waikato Stud stallion No Excuse Needed (the 1st foal out of 5-time-winning & Gr3-placed 8YO O'Reilly mare Miracle Miss) during yesterday's middle session at the 3-day Select Section (following this week's 2-day Premier Section) of the NZ Bloodstock National Yearling Sale series at Karaka in Auckland. The filly (whose dam Miracle Miss is a full-sister to dual Gr3-winner Dating) was consigned by Waikato Stud & Latta declared: "I loved her right from the 1st minute. I looked at both Premier & Select (Sale catalogues) & while we did miss out on a few fillies in the Premier Sale, I thought she was the pick of the Select fillies & am very happy to have got her. I have nominated her for the Karaka Million; however she was selected on pedigree & residual value, so that is not a priority."
