Zanbagh Wins Gr3 Keith Nolan Classic

Monday, 24th March 2014

At Kembla Grange, triple Gr1-winning Darley shuttler & US Eclipse Award-winning stallion Bernardini (A.P. Indy-Cara Rafaela, by Quiet American) added a group success when 3YO filly Zanbagh (Bernardini-Wild Iris, by Spectrum) scored by 1-length for trainer Guy Walter in the $200,000 Gr3 Keith Nolan Classic (1600m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Role Model (Bel Danoro-Super Nanny, by Reenact) & Metaphorical (Dylan Thomas-Light Up the World, by Rory's Jester). This was the first stakes victory for Zanbagh who took her record to 3 wins and 2 placings (including the Gr1 VRC Oaks) from 10 starts for $329,050 earnings. A homebred for the Tait family, Zanbagh is the third foal of 2004 Australian Oaks winner Wild Iris. Wild Iris is a granddaughter of talented filly Fiancee who in turn is by the Tait family's outstanding homebred Baguette, winner of the Golden Slipper, George Main Stakes and Newmarket Handicap among a host of other Gr1 races. Walter commented: "She's a lovely filly on the way up," reports breednet.com.au. "She's going to the Vinery Stud Stakes on Slipper day and up to 2000 (metres) she is going to be hard to beat."
