First Winner For Forensics

Tuesday, 2nd June 2015

Former Champion Australian filly Forensics has produced her first winner at stud with 3YO filly Wordcraft scoring an impressive debut win at Newmarket in the UK on Saturday. The daughter of Shamardal looked a smart type in the making when running out a comfortable 1.5-length winner over Bella Nostalgia and Noblest in a 1400m maiden over Newmarket's famous Rowley Mile course. "She is a nice filly out of a very good Australian mare who is all speed," Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby told Sporting Life. "I was a bit concerned about the ground, as it would have been plenty quick enough, but her class saw her through." Wordcraft is the first foal for Forensics who retired in 2010 as a three-time Gr1 winner of the Golden Slipper, Queen of the Turf Stakes and Myer Classic. The Flying Spur mare, who hails from the Easy Date family of Gr1-winning sprinter and successful sire Snippets, also won the Golden Rose before it was elevated to Gr1 status.
