Boss Booked For Master Of Arts

Wednesday, 3rd June 2015

Glen Boss has been booked to ride the New Zealand-bred Master of Arts (Mastercraftsman-Petit Verdot, by Carnegie) in Saturday's $600,000 Gr1 Queensland Derby (2200m) at Doomben, reports NZ Racing Desk. Boss replaces the injured Brad Rawiller who has been aboard the promising Darren Weir-trained colt in four out of his five starts. "I have basically got a small tear in the medial ligament," Rawiller told AAP. "It would not be fair to anyone if I went into a Gr1 under a fitness cloud." The Paul Fudge-owned Master Of Arts, who is coming off an unlucky third behind Upham in the Gr3 Grand Prix Stakes (2020m) on 23 May, is currently a $4.60 second favourite behind fellow Kiwi bred Werther ($3.50). Master Of Arts is a half-brother to Gr2 Hawkes Bay Guineas winner Antonio Lombardo and hails from the family of Victoria Derby winner Amalfi, New Zealand 2,000 Guineas winner Steely Dan, and New Zealand Derby winner Popsy, herself the dam of New Zealand 2,000 Guineas winner Rock 'N' Pop.
