MM National Yearling Day-2: $260k For I Am Invincible Colt
A colt by exciting young sire I Am Invincible topped Day Two of the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast yesterday. Consigned by Yarraman Park Stud, the colt from the six time winning Beautiful Crown mare Troubeaut, was knocked down for $260,000 - one of three youngsters to sell for $200,000 or more on the day. The $260,000 top selling colt was knocked down to John Crowley for Mecca Thoroughbreds and will head to Sydney to be trained. "He's the best colt in the sale," Crowley reported. "He moves very well and he's going to make a lovely three-year-old - just a real athlete." The colt, catalogued as Lot 1862, is a half brother to two runners - both of them stakes performers. One is this season's stakes winning juvenile and Golden Slipper runner Haptic and the other is the stakes performer Heart's Delight. Another two yearlings sold for $200,000 including the first lot in the ring, Lot 1712 - the Snitzel-Quiet Maggy colt from Arrowfield Stud who was purchased by Mick Price Racing. A half brother to international stakes winner Topic and three quarter brother to South African group performer Mutamakkin, the bay colt attracted plenty of interest and kicked away the day in style. Later in the afternoon South African buyer Hassen Adams secured Lot 1824 - the Fastnet Rock-Suitely colt from the Newgate Farm draft for $200,000. The colt is a full brother to stakes winner Casquets and half brother to two other stakes gallopers including the recent Brisbane stakes winning filly Ballet Suite. The first two days of the National Yearling Sale have grossed over $6.8 million for 267 lots sold at an average price of $25,699 and clearance rate of 71 per cent. "It was a little stronger today," Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. "The quality lots attracted plenty of attention." He added: "It was pleasing to see so much international activity including Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, New Zealand, South Africa and the Philippines." Day Three of the National Yearling Sale will commence at 10am today.
