NZ Bloodstock Changes Comm Structure For Breeding Sales

Thursday, 4th June 2015

In an attempt to have vendors consign better quality broodmares and weanlings to their National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale in May and the Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale held in July, NZ Bloodstock is introducing a changed commission structure. In a press release, the sales company announced that the new rates for horses sold at those two sales will be 10% plus GST on the first $100,000, with anything above that initial figure attracting commission of just 5% plus GST. Co-Managing Director of NZB, Andrew Seabrook, observed that while buyer demand for quality weanlings was in evidence at last month's sale, the sale didn't have enough supply to meet that demand. Acknowledging that the sale had struggled "to attract genuine quality breeding stock over the past few years". He expressed the hope that the new lower cost structure will entice vendors to offer better quality breeding stock, in the process boosting the sales to realise their full potential.
