D-Day For Expensive SAF Colt

Thursday, 11th June 2015

Meanwhile, one of the most expensive colts in South Africa's history finally gets his chance to vindicate his hefty price tag. Called Racing Free, the beautifully-bred son of Silvano and Racing Heart (National Assembly) was purchased by leviathan owner Adrian Van Vuuren for R3,250,000 from the draft of Maine Chance Farms at the 2013 Cape Premier Sale in Cape Town where he topped the opening session. Leading trainer Mike Azzie, who trains the colt, did the bidding at the time for Van Vuuren, who will watch his pricey acquisition – now a gelding – go around at Vaal today over 1200m in a Maiden event. It's not a strong field, and the bookies' price will tell the story.
