Vogue Cover For American Pharoah
Meanwhile, the connections of American Pharoah are finding out what it means to own US racing's latest Triple Crown champion with the 3YO set to grace the covers of Sports Illustrated and Vogue magazines, reports Blood Horse. "We are breaking new territory," said owner Ahmed Zayat. "We just signed an agreement to have him on the cover of the next issue of Vogue magazine." American Pharoah joins Mine That Bird and Smarty Jones (2009 and 2004 respectively) as the only horses to have been featured on Sports Illustrated's cover since 2000 while a Vogue cover for a horse would be unprecedented. Zayat confirmed that American Pharoah will retire to Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Kentucky when he retires from racing which, unfortunately for racing fans, is likely to be at the end of the year. "We will sit down and see what will be the next call for him," Zayat said. "Obviously the Breeders' Cup Classic would be a very fitting finale for him."
