Schofield Excited About Criterion

Friday, 12th June 2015

Chad Schofield, who will ride Criterion in next week's Gr1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, says he is looking forward to teaming up with the multiple Gr1 winner, reports racing.com. "I can't wait for next Wednesday and hopefully we can give the race a good shake," Schofield told RSN radio yesterday. "I think the horse is going to be very competitive, he's acclimatised very well and his work has been great." He added: "He's feeling fantastic. In the last week his work has picked up really well and he absolutely flew in a gallop last Wednesday and this morning (Wednesday) he produced a similar piece of work." Schofield, who has been riding Criterion in trackwork since the horse arrived in England five weeks ago, said he was impressed with the way the 4YO handled Ascot's undulations. "That was what I was most impressed and happy about," he said. "He's very light on his feet, he's got a beautiful, big, long action and he handled the undulations very well." The Prince Of Wales's Stakes promises to be one of the highlights of the British flat season with the likes of US Horse of the Year California Chrome, Night Of Thunder, Tapestry, Red Cadeaux, Eagle Top, Western Hymn, Arab Spring, and Free Eagle among the nominated runners.
