VIC Minister Wants Rights Resolution
Meanwhile, Victorian Racing Minister Martin Pakula says he would like to see the media rights issue resolved expeditiously so that vision is restored as soon as possible, reports racing.com. Minister Pakula refuses to involve himself in negotiations between Racing Victoria and the Victoria Racing Club, but says it is in the best interests of racing for the parties to come to an agreement quickly. "What I've said all along is that it's important the Victorian racing industry maintain a united position," he said yesterday. "I understand there's some issues that need to be thrashed out, particularly between Racing Victoria and the VRC." He added: "I'm encouraging both RV and VRC to continue discussions until they have an agreement with each other and then they can proceed to finalise the arrangement they want to make with Seven and get Victorian racing back on air." The minister also endorsed the proposed Seven West Media deal. "I think the concept of having Victorian racing beamed into as many homes as possible can only be a positive for Victorian racing," he said. "But the deal's got to be landed."
